If you have paid SUMC membership then you are able to borrow any club gear you may require. All gear will be provided for official club events, however gear can be borrowed for anything organised by members.

Borrowing and returning gear

If you want to borrow any gear, either email the Gear Sec (gear@sumc.uk), or for a quick response, drop them a message on Facebook. They’ll let you know what’s available and when they’re around for you to pick it up from stores (located on Level 4 of Building 42).

Please be kind to the Gear Sec! As much as they love gear, they don’t want to spend all of their time in stores – give them reasonable notice before you need any gear and make sure you turn up on time to collect it.

Please note that official club trips will take priority for use of club gear – this may mean that you are asked to return gear before a certain date. If not, aim to return any gear whenever it is no longer required as this makes it much easier for the Gear Sec to keep track of where everything is!

Looking After Gear

We expect members to treat club gear as if it were their own – this means not losing club gear and doing what you can to minimise the wear and tear on equipment. The Gear Sec will explain how to look after gear on Fresher’s Meets or if it is your first time borrowing gear.

If you have any queries about club gear or your own gear, feel free to drop the Gear Sec a message
