Freshers, this is your first opportunity to come and climb outdoors with us! Join us for a weekend in the Peak District where we'll spend the days outside (or at Outside if it's raining) and the evenings introducing you all to some classic SUMC Hut Shenanigans™.
All abilities welcome! These meets are all about teaching you the skills you'll be using on future meets and beyond, so whether you've never climbed before or was trad climbing straight from the womb and are projecting an E9, we'd love to have you!
We will leave at 5pm on Friday 10th October from Redbrick (outside Stags', or in the SUSU building if it is raining), and arrive back late on Sunday night. You will be provided breakfast and lunch each day and dinner on Saturday night (please make us aware of any dietary info on your website profile). We stop at Tesco in Winchester on our way up on Friday night so you can buy dinner and any snacks/ beers you want for the weekend.
For insurance reasons, you cannot come on this meet unless you are a paid member of the club. If you are not a paid member by Wednesday 8th October you will be removed from the meet and your place will be given to somebody else.
What to bring - See the meets info page linked above but please do not forget plenty of warm layers and waterproofs! We have booked glorious sunshine for the weekend but the weather gods are famously unreliable. You will also need a sleeping bag and a roll mat, the club has a few which you can borrow but it is better for you to have your own. Sturdy shoes (ideally walking boots or trail shoes) are also essential for approaches to the crag, or walking/scrambling in wet weather. Most importantly, bring plenty of psych!
Any questions drop the meet secs (Emma and Owen) a message or email us at meets@sumc.uk
