Alright pals we're off to sunny Dartmoor!
This is gonna be a super exciting trip to one of Britain's biggest and wildest national parks, get psyched for a weekend of climbing on the infamous granite tors
Per usual:
Thursday/Friday: Pack your things!!
Friday (Morning): COVID TEST!! These are mandatory for any club trips so get on it! Once you've done it and its all come back neg you can send me (Iain) a pic of it on facebook (find me on the SUMC page!).
Friday (17:00): Meet at red brick on campus, sort out gear and cars
Friday (~17:30/17:45): Leave for Peaks, stop off at Winchester Tescos for dinner
Friday (late): Arrive at Scout hut
Saturday (7:30): wake up, breakfast, pack lunch
Saturday (~9:00): Climbing!
Saturday (eve): dinner and chill
Sunday (7:30): Wake up, eat breakfast, pack lunch
Sunday (9:00): Climbing!
Sunday (~18:00): Leave for Southampton
Sunday (some time late): Arrive in Southampton
Food:
Food will be provided for breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast, and lunch on Sunday. If you want snacks or specific foods/ drinks please bring them yourselves or buy them on the road. We will be stopping at tescos on friday night and sunday night for dinner. We will try our best to accomodate for everyone with respect to the group.
Things to bring:
- Warm Clothes (layers are important bring many) the more colourful the better btw
- Hat and gloves (+ anything else thats warm trust me its going to be cold and youre going to wish you had it)
- Waterproof shoes
- Waterproof clothes
- Toiletries (tooth paste, tooth brush etc. you dont need to bring a towel there are no showers)
- Climbing Gear (harness, helmet, shoes, ATC, etc.)
- Sleeping bag
- Roll Mat
- Waterbottle
- Snacks
- Chargers
- Lunchbox/ reusable sandwhich bag
- This should all be in a bag that you can carry up a mountain, ideally a back pack. If you don't have a big enough bag, you should bring one back pack that can carry all of your climbing gear/lunch/water. And one bag that will have your sleeping stuff and clothes (this bag will stay in the hut) Ideally you would have one bag. You must be able to carry what you bring.
